Lo Hei Week

This week has been a fun "Lo-Hei" week (I Lo-ed 3 three times in fact...). You should see how pple Lo nowadays manz. It's no longer about how high you can Lo.. but really how much of the Lo Hei you managed to throw at your friends!

Yes, I admit it's a waste of Cheena Salad, but chill lah, it's just for fun! How many times a year do you have a legitimate reason to throw food at someone else anyway?

It was quite a hilarious scene at the UBS's CNY lunch party. First, some of the management surprised (then bored us to death) us with a CMI Lion Dance. Then, the MC tried to be funny by literally translating the chinese greetings into english (eg. "nian nian you yu" into "have fish every year"). Finally, upon the flag-off for the Lo-Hei battle, there were screams everywhere; The aggressive ones will keep on attack others with the vege shreds. While the prey would try to dodge. Mind you, we were in our office wear, so it was quite funny to see some pple with Lo Hei on their heads and clothes.

We must be too stressed out at work, hence venting off of frustrations via Lo Hei-ing.

Or perhaps, in everyone, there's still a child in them.

Incessant ramblings of a young manager

I recalled 2 years ago when I stepped into UBS, I told myself that I have to work hard, I cannot be as slack as I was in Shell and I wanna be a Line Manager or team lead within 2 years. Oh well, those were the days when my enthusiam and drive was over spilling; Being able to manage a team seemed so cool...

2 years later today, I got my wish. Do I feel COOL? MY FOOT!
I feel enslaved, mistreated and abused.
Managing people is a darn horrid thing, let alone to lead a team of 4 with completely diverse background.

Introducing my team members......

Ms Complain Queen -- My right-hand woman. Been in the bank for almost a decade. Great client servicing skills. Even better complain skills. Draws the line clear & distinct. Darts off promptly at 530pm.

Mr Yes -- My headache. Takes foreveeeeeeerrrrrr to complete a simple task. Likes to nod his head and say yes. But actually what he meant was "I don't understand". Needs to exercise preseverence when dealing with him. LOADS & HEAPS of perseverence, if not he could have been slashed by me big time. God Bless me.

Ms Vainpot -- My left-hand woman in trg. Newbie. Not much comments. Pray hard that she is up to mark....ASAP

Ms Lovey Dovey -- Love No. 1, food No. 2, work No. 3.

What's so fun about managing pple?

Da Nian Chu San

My work week started one day earlier than most pple... cos the Ang Mohs & the Japanese ain't Chinese, hence no CHINESE new year celebrations for them... Do I sound as if I'm bitter about having to go work? Nahhh... on the contrary, I was more than happy to go earn my one day leave in lieu.

Anyway, I had a very interesting Chu San yesterday. Went Fiona's nice cosy home for the Rose Gang gathering. I love the gals to the core! We just seem to don't ever get bored by the chatting, reminiscing our JC days, gossiping abt CJH & Billy... and of cos update each other of our love (blank) lives.

OMG Yimin's getting married end of this year! And we are finally going to be Jie-Mei-s!! Woohoo... pretty hilarious, we were more excited than the bride, even planning abt the hen's party while the poor bride was more bothered by he banquet, gowns, etc etc..

Update of my upcoming triP:--
13th to 19th San Francisco (gg to stay at a more luxurious hotel for the 1st night for pure indulgence, and the real exploration starts on 14th!)
19th to 30th New York
24th to 25th Niagara

My "virgin" trip to Land of Freedom

I'm going to the States in March, for a whopping 3 weeks!!!

A glimpse of my itinery:--
12th to 14th March: Los Angeles... Hollywood Here I Come~!
14th to 19th March: San Francisco... Another Melbourne-like city? (I certainly hope so!)
19th to 30th March: New York... This is where the shopping begins *hiakz* (am going Washington and Niagara in between)

Planning for this trip is more taxing than I thought it would be. The air tix, the hotels, contacting WS for our trip to the Niagara Falls, imaging the hassle to fly from LA to SFO, then from SFO to JFK... Oh well I have only myself to blame... being the usual greedy me, there are so many places that I wanna cover during these 3 weeks -- Hollywood, the Golden Bridge, the magnificent Niagara... all in the name of "since I've fly half the globe to North America, might as well..."

I don't know how this trip will work out to be.. God Bless Me!

Da Nian Chu Er

I hate CNY for 2 reasons: --
1. All the goodies make me fat
2. I'm not close to my relatives at all, nothing to talk about and I can't be bother making pretentious small talks either

Sometimes I really wonder why my parents would bother waking up at 6 am to start preparing all the food for the guests. Might as well save the trouble and money for small trips outta this boring lil island.

Working tomorrow.. though it's a public holiday still, but I seriously don't mind. Why not? I can get away from all the relatives + I get a day's leave in lieu (for 1/2 a day's work) and all transport to and back is being paid for.

Say GoodBye To Mr. Past

I spent the last 15 mins deleting all my previous posts. I wanna start sharing my blog with my friends, but I'm not ready to even let my closest friends know about darkest secret(s), hence the ultra personal posts have to go. Thank God that there wasn't a single tinge of hesistation or unwillingness. Guess I finally said my last Goodbye to my past and to KW, that's why.

Just came back from XP's place. Had a great catch-up session with her and SH... on our updates, our love life, our friends and gossips =P. Not exactly as exciting as having our gals' night out at some clubs, but I always enjoy our chit-chats more than anything else!

Okie ttyl, in a fix now cos I need to resche my US trip.. darn
